Bend Large Cables In Panels and LB’s With The Bulldog Bender
One of the wonderful things about working with Rack-A-Tiers is getting to see new tools before they make it onto the market. Of course there are limits to what I am free to talk about, but I honestly get excited when I get to bring you something new. This article is one of those times.
The new product that I am going to tell you about is closely related to the Bend-All that I told you about awhile back. Remember that wonderful knuckle saver; well think of this tool as a Bend-All on steroids. It is The Bulldog Bender and it is a Big Boy Toy.
By that I mean that it is intended for the guys that work heavy cables (500 MCM – 750 MCM). If you work with these larger cable sizes you know what a pain it is to try and get them to take shape and make turns. Sometimes, I would have sworn that it had a mind of its own and the will of a two year old.
If you want a workout that will make you forget the gym, wrestle this stuff all day. It will make you speak languages that you don’t even know.
The Bulldog Bender
The Bulldog actually comes in more than one guise. It comes as The Original Bulldog, The Bull Dog Pro, The Bulldog pro with adapter (all for up to 500 MCM) and the Bulldog Big Daddy (for up to 750 MCM). It can be had with either smooth or knurled dowels, each having advantages so it is a matter of choice.
The operation of The Bulldog Bender is much the same as for the Bend-All. The dowels are used to grip the cable allowing you to gain leverage. The difference is that you don’t need a wrench or breaker bar to use it and with the adapter you get plenty of stand off.
From a strength stand point, a solid stock is much preferable, for work that is this heavy. In fact these beauties are so strong that they can be used to bend rebar, square stock (up to ½ inch) and you can even use it to make your own ½ inch Ubolts. That is backbone that you can trust.
To be honest this magnificent tool makes shaping Heavy MCM so easy that it has to be seen to be believed.
Conclusion
For those of us that work industrial and Heavy Commercial jobs this tool is a god send. It is efficient, simple, and handy and will save you a fortune in muscle rub. It takes what has got to be one of the most frustrating jobs that we deal with and makes it dead easy.
I give it a definite two thumbs up and you will too.
Unfortunately for you it isn’t out on the market yet, but will be shortly. So check with your Electrical Tool Supplier and reserve your Bulldog Bender. When they come in they will disappear fast so don’t get left out. If you work heavy cables on a regular basses you’ll be glad that you did.

I am an electrician working for the U.S. government overseas. On our job we use mostly european SWA(Steel Wire Armor) cable. It is a multi-conductor cable and the cable is shaped more triangular rather than round. My question is will this tool grip and lock in the cable like a typical round cable like we commonly use in the U.S ?
Hi Ben, if you can email me your information I can put you in contact with the manufacturer of the Bulldog Benders and he can answer some more of your questions.

Thanks,
Travis
