I will be honest with you; I have found very few advantages to getting older.

When my daughters started dating, it was a kick to make the young men squirm if they didn’t say Sir, but since all my kids are married now, that fun is gone.

Now, I’ve reached a point where getting older just means a few more aches and pains and it taking a few more beers to get the job done. Still, I have to admit that I do have one advantage that I appreciate every day that I work. That being that I no longer spend my days with a heavy tool belt weighing me down.

I know some guys who seem more comfortable with their belt slung on their hip than they are without it but I was never one of those guys. That is why I no longer even own one. I don’t work in the field that often anymore and when I do I use one of the greatest tools ever devised the Butt Pouch.

I can hear you know asking, what is a Butt Pouch, so I’ll tell you. The Butt Pouch is a wonderful alternative to the tradition belt and pouches that most of us have lugged around our entire working lives.

They are lightweight, made of durable ballistic nylon and while it does have snap loops to use with a belt; it much simpler to just slide the flap in your jeans pocket like a wallet and go. Of course this mode doesn’t work to well with your pants around your knees but I don’t see to many electricians sporting the “jailhouse sag” anyway.

Best of all it is just as simple to take off. No buckling and unbuckling to climb in and out of vans and no more torn seats or bruised sides from trying to drive while wearing your tool belt.

Regular readers know I love simple and this is about as simple an idea as you can get. It eliminates something that I have always hated anyway.

It slips in and out of your pocket in seconds (faster than putting a belt on or taking it off). It is tough and last, so it is a good investment. It has stopped my guys from ripping up the upholstery in my trucks, which is one of my pet peeves and comes in three sizes, Mini Butt Pouch, Grande Butt Pouch, and Driller Butt Pouch so there is a size to suite everyone and their needs.
